"Showhouses are built on fantasy, and the most amazing fantasies of all are seen each spring at the Manhattan showhouse to benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. This year 24 designers each took a featureless room with a concrete floor and blank white walls and let their imaginations fly. Every one of their rooms was worth a good long look, but here, in their first showing in a magazine, we focus on four we will never forget, by the interior designers Mario Buatta; Rick Shaver and Lee Melahn; Christopher Maya; and Charlotte Moss."
