Design specialist, Susan Yelavich, recipient of the prestigious Rome Prize and former assistant director for public programs at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum and who has also compiled a comprehensive book on 20th century design for Phaedon Publishing recently wrote the following about Rick Shaver and his work: "Rick Shaver has an unusual degree of flexibility to adapt to specific field requirements and to fill unmet market niches.
